General Information
Wood County is located in the northeast section of Texas. The counties of Smith, Rains, Upshur, Hopkins, Van Zandt, Camp and Franklin border it. Located within Wood County are the incorporated cities of Alba, Hawkins, Mineola, Quitman, Winnsboro, and Yantis. Other sizeable communities include Lake Fork and Holly Lake Ranch. Wood County is located approximately 90 miles east of Dallas metroplex area, midway between Dallas and Shreveport. Wood County has an estimated population of 41,964.
Highway Access
Wood County is located between Interstate 20 to the south and Interstate 30 to the north. Easy access to Wood County can be achieved from both Interstate 20 and Interstate 30. Other major highways bisecting Wood County are US 69, US 80, and Texas Highways 37, 11 17, 14, and 154.
Air Access
Wood County is home to three airports for small aircraft. These are the Wood County Airport (between Mineola and Quitman), Mineola Wisener Airport, and Winnsboro Airport. American Eagle serves Tyler Pounds Airport, located about 30 minutes from Wood County. DFW International Airport is located about 90 miles west of Wood County and provides domestic and international travel access.
Train Access
